There’s no need to leave your four-legged family member at home when travelling to the Saskatchewan city of Saskatoon. From dog-friendly parks, attractions, events and even pet-friendly businesses, use our pet-friendly guide and have fun with Fido with these activities and events:

1. Get Muddy with your Buddy

The Saskatchewan SPCA is hosting a family fun obstacle course run you can do with your furry friend, Aug. 25 at Blackstrap Provincial Park. Located 55 kilometres south of the Comfort Suites hotel in Saskatoon, Get Muddy with your Buddy features a 5 km walk or run with a variety of challenges, including tire obstacles, tunnels, balance beams, and hoop jumps.  The event gets its name from the mud pit that is part of the course. Visit the Running Room to register your family and your pet.

2. Peruse History with your Pooch

A popular centre for indigenous history, Wanuskewin Heritage Park features 760 acres of trails and more on its property located just a 10-minute drive from our Comfort Suites.  Visit the 19 historic sites to learn about First Nations history and visit the interpretive centre, gift shop and art gallery. While pets are allowed on the grounds on a leash, they are not allowed inside the buildings.

3. Let Fido Fetch in the Park

Located near the local dog-friendly hotels, there are a number of dog parks and recreation areas where your pet can run, jump and play without a leash.

They include:

  • Silverwood Off-Leash Area for Dogs, northeast of Silverwood Golf Course, 5 km east of the Comfort Suites
  • Hampton Village Dog Park, located just south of John G. Diefenbaker International Airport, near the Comfort Suites Saskatoon hotel
  • Pierre Radisson Dog Park, 8 km south of the Comfort Suites in Pierre Radisson Park
  • Sutherland Beach off-Leash Recreation Area, 11 km southeast of the Comfort Suites
  • Hyde Park Dog Park, off Boychuck Drive, 20 km southeast of the Comfort Suites

4. Visit Pet–Friendly Businesses in Saskatoon

If you’re hoping to grab a frothy pint or cappuccino or do some shopping when staying in Saskatoon, why not take your pooch along to pet-friendly establishments, including Prairie Sun Brewery, on Quebec Avenue, which is open to canines on Sunday and Mondays when the kitchen is closed.

Early’s Farm and Garden Centre, near Prairieland Park, offers pet and gardening supplies and always has treats behind the counter for any visiting four-legged friends (cats included!)
